We are excited about a new resource that everyone is participating in at South Plains. It’s called “The Story”. Over a 31 week period each family will be reading through “The Story”. To help keep up we’ve provided a reading schedule below.

Family Reading Bible

The Family Reading Bible is and excellent resource that a number of South Plains families are currently using. The following is a review from Rob Wilkinson who has used it with his family since the Spring 0f 2011.

“The Family Reading Bible is a great tool to be able to quickly sit down with your family and utilize the Bible to have an in-depth discussion. The Index enables you to identify an easy topic and find various areas in the Bible that addresses that topic. It then provides you multiple questions or commentaries that you can use to promote some thought-invoking discussions. We also find it to be flexible with the various ages we have in our family. With a little preparation, it is also useful as a guide for even more in-depth studies and devotionals.”

Devotions for Dating Couples

A quality resource for dating couples and those engaged to be married.

Year With Jesus: Daily Readings and Meditations

This is a challenging resource for students and adults.

Jim Brewer’s Thoughts on this resource: “I have just recently found this book, and it is quite provoking. This is designed as a daily reading, but could easily become a weekly guide. It
has some great jumping off points into the life of Christ (Matthew and John) with very poignant questions? I think it could be a very good source for couples or families with teenagers.”

The Daily Walk Bible

Although this is set up as a daily reading not weekly, it has been a
really good experience for those at South Plains who have used it. It includes a synopsis
providing a peek into the reading and a short editorial leading into the
reading and will include a how to apply biblical insight to life.

God and Me

This is a helpful resource for those with small children.

Max Lucado’s Children’s Daily Devotional Bible

A devotional Bible that brings together words of encouragement and the gentle wisdom of Max Lucado with the Word of God.

The Children’s Daily Devotional Bible

Here is a full year of Bible readings for young readers ages 6 to 11.

“This is an idea, not a resource. My family had a wonderful tradition when I was a kid. The four of us would sit around the table every morning before school. While we ate breakfast, we would make a list of our prayer requests (in a spiral journal). We had a list for things we were thankful for and things we were requesting. At the end, we would pray, and each of us would go to school/work. Every so often, we would go back and look at previous requests and talk about how God had answered our prayers. What an amazing faith builder! Of course, it doesn’t have to be at breakfast or any other meal. It can be anytime that the whole family can sit together for a few minutes.”
